Although designed chiefly for those with an interest in dance activities, however, this is a book likely to be useful to anyone seeking an introduction to aesthetics who may have only a limited background in formal philosophy. Drawing on some of the work of well-known writers in the field, it aims, first, to represent a section of topics in aesthetics in such a way as to highlight the wider philosophical problems involved - problems to do with meaning and definition, perception, imagination, etc. - and, secondly, to look in more detail at notions such as 'disinterested contemplation', 'form', and enjoying something 'for it's own sake'.
